Uses OF Tarpaulins

Uses of Different Tarpaulins:

Tarpaulins, made from polyethylene, polypropylene mesh, vinyl, or canvas, are a multipurpose material, but their essential task is protecting an investment. The typical Tarpaulin in this case, is made from heavy-duty polyethylene and is treated to be UV resistant, waterproof, rot proof, and mildew resistant. Polyethylene Tarpaulins, however, are sold in medium- and heavy-duty varieties, with the primary variation being their denier count. A heavy-duty poly tarp, for example, will often have a 14 by 14 denier count, while medium-duty material will have an eight by eight count.

Medium Weigh Tarpaulin and heavy-duty poly tarp both cover investments but are used over different periods of time. A heavy Weight Tarpaulins, for example, can withstand being outdoors for several months at a time. The tarp will protect a vehicle or another object against UV and moisture exposure during this time. Medium-duty Tarpaulins, however, are often used over a shorter time period and for temporary protection. Although they can temporarily cover nearly any object, their most common use is as a roof patch after hurricanes. Roof damage is common after a storm, and a medium-duty tarp can be placed over the area to prevent water and mold from damaging the interior of the home or building.

Tarpaulins aren't always used by themselves, however. One popular use for the polyethylene material is as a canopy in a portable shelter. Built with a galvanized steel frame, such portable shelters, like portable garages and carports, use a polyethylene tarp as a canopy. The shelters have a valance or enclosed style, and the UV resistant and waterproof properties of the material, coupled with the durability of the steel frame, keep the investment inside protected for several months at a time.

No matter the composition, the role of most Tarpaulins is to protect an investment. Either by itself or as part of a portable shelter, a polyethylene Tarpaulin is a material that will keep a vehicle or another investment from becoming damaged.
